The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated features, but it does not have no-go zones. They are only available on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing navigational system results in greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet mode cleans well, but it tends to get caught up on rug tassels. In our tests in our tests, the IQ was adept at handling pet hair well, clearing huge amounts of debris from floors that were not bare and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less effective with shag carpets. It struggled to get at dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It did a decent job of navigating chair legs and tight spaces, as well as the bottom of an wooden IKEA step stool. We did notice that it was a little slower on bare floors, but it regained speed and performed more thoroughly than the other robots we tested.
